How many
pictures can I use in my book?
You can use as many
as you like with a maximum of 8 on one page and a maximum
page count of 160
Can I uses
other images besides pictures?
Yes, you can have
certificates, newspaper clippings or any other flat images
or mementos up to A4 in size. You can also have larger
images scanned which I will be happy to quote for.
What if my
images are larger than A4?
No problem, I'll be
happy to price that into your quote when required.
Can I include a
written biography?
Yes, you can
include numerous text pages of which you can place all sorts
of information. Any text should be supplied on your
image CD rom as a word document and should be spell checked
and corrected, as it will be published as received.
How do I get my
pictures to you?
You are advised to
parcel them up in a good strong un-bendable package and mail
them via a secure service such as Royal Mail special
delivery. When using digital images these can be sent
on a CD rom.
I am worried
about sending my original pictures?
I cannot be held
responsible for items lost or damaged in transit but I
promise I will take extra special care of your pictures and
while with me they will be stored in a special fire proof
box until they are dispatched back to you via special
delivery.
Can I scan my
own pictures?
For your own and my
piece of mind, it is always preferable when handling
priceless images to scan your own pictures when possible.
When doing so you need to set the scan at a high resolution
of 300ppi and then load them onto a CD rom saved as Jpeg
image files.
How do you
decide what picture goes where?
In the main, full
artistic licence is handed over to me for the creation of
the book, however, I provide you with a detailed set of
instructions of how to group your pictures together and a
full questionnaire that will provide me with personal
information as to the various relationships between the
people and places featured in the book along with birthdates
and other significant dates related to the items included.
How do I
approve my book for printing?
I supply an online
preview of your book which you can view and make a
reasonable amount of changes too. Once that is approved it
will be printed as seen and dispatched ASAP. Your
quote will include one printed book.
What if I am
not happy with my Book?
In the most
unlikely event that you are not 100% happy with your book,
it is not the end of the world. If it is a print
quality issue you can be assured that it will be sorted
ASAP. If it is that you are not happy with the
layout, bearing in mind that at this stage you will have
already approved your book content before the book was
printed, you still can, if you wish, make alterations to the
book by adding or removing sections at a later stage.
As the main costs have been born already in the initial
publication, any alterations and amendments you require will
be able to be done at a reasonable cost and I will do my
utmost to make you happy.
Can I order more
than one copy of my Book?
You can order as many
duplicates of your Book as you like, even in the two
different formats at the same time. However it is
advisable to get your first book through prior to ordering
further copies just in case you want to make any
amendments.
Can I upgrade
or revise my Book?
Yes, a family is a
constantly changing thing and people get married have
children etc. etc. It is likely that as time goes on you
would like to add sections or new chapters into your book.
As the main costs have been born already in the initial
publication, any alterations and amendments you require will
be able to be done at a reasonable cost and I will be quite
happy to quote for this.
Is the shipping
included or do I have to pay extra?
All quotes will be
provided including free delivery to any European or US
destination address.
Can you deliver
my book direct to someone else?
Of course I
can. Although it will not arrive gift wrapped you can
provide me with any European or US mailing address that you
wish the book to be sent too.
How will my
personal data be stored?
Your personal data
and information will only be stored for the order process, transaction
and production.
After the manufacture, your image data will be archived in
case you would like to place a repeat order in the future. Your
personal data will not be shared with any outside parties or used
otherwise.
Can I publish
my book and sell it online?
Yes, I can arrange
that for you and you can set your own retail price.
Transport damage -
(The book) what should I do?
In the unlikely case
of damage of your book through transport, please
advise the delivery driver immediately about the damage. If you
have a digital camera at your fingertips, take some detail
pictures of the damaged box and item. This will accelerate
the claim settlement. Then contact us on the spot to report
the damage. In every case we will make up for the damage as
each package is insured.
Transport damage -
(My Images) what should I do?
In the unlikely case
of damage of your original images through transport, please
advise the delivery driver immediately about the damage. If you
have a digital camera at your fingertips, take some detail
pictures of the damaged box and items. This will accelerate
the claim settlement. Then contact me on the spot to report
the damage. In every case I will make up for the damage as
each package is insured. (As an emotional value cannot be
insured against I limit the insurance cover to a nominal
£100 however, if you wish for a higher level of cover, it
can be arranged.
What if my
images are damaged during production?
In the most unlikely
event that you images are damaged whilst in my care; where
they can be repaired or a restored copy made it will be done
without cost to you. If the images are damaged beyond
repair, stolen, fire damaged or as result of an act of god,
my insurance payout is limited to £100 in total. This
is the only basis on which I will accept personal images,
for I believe no monetary return would ever compensate for
an emotional loss of treasured memories and would only add
unnecessarily to costs. However, if you wish for a higher
level of cover, it can be arranged.
What do I do
now?
To get a quote for
producing a personal "This is your Life" book for someone close
to you, please contact me in the fist place
thisisyourlife@andreweldridge.co.uk explaining the purpose
of your book and the date you require it. Please note it
can take up to three months to produce your final hard copy as
it is a collaborative project and can involve discussion and
communication with you and at times some research may need to be
done during the process. Subsequent copies can usually be
supplied within 15 to 20 working days
